This study aims to investigate the mediating role of grit in predicting academic success form growth mindsets among university students in Singapore. For academic success, facets such academic achievement, the acquisition of skills and competencies, the attainment of educational objectives, and learning-related satisfaction were examined. The final sample comprised of 151 responses from participants between 18 to 26 years of age, with the majority being ethnically Chinese females from Junior College backgrounds. The PROCESS macro v 4.2 by Andrew F. Hayes (2022) was used to examine the statistical significance of the proposed simple mediation models in the present study. Interestingly, while extant literature suggests that a relationship between growth mindset, grit, and academic success, findings from this study returned non-significant effects for all proposed simple mediation models. Nonetheless, this study contributes to the dearth of literature investigating the effects of grit on growth mindsets and academic success at the level of tertiary education.
