Across all the identity categories, discourses on neighbouring and foreign countries is the most predominant one. It represents almost twenty percent of the total identity counts+10:10. This high figure characterizes a popular trend among the elite and the masses who tend to associate their references to national identity with Cambodia’s neighbors, especially Thailand and Vietnam. Drawing upon the identity topography, it shows that both the elites and the masses share a very high percentage of negative views towards the neighbouring and foreign countries.
