THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON OLDER ADULTS’ PERCEPTION OF PUBLIC SPACES IN SINGAPORE. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Public Spaces provide the community with a plethora of benefits as they hold economic, cultural, and social significance. They perform as a medium whereby citizens conduct their daily activities and it strengthens their physical and mental well-being. This paper intends to explore the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on older adults' perceptions and behaviours towards public spaces. The research focused on 2 main sections as aforementioned – finding out their perceptions and behaviours towards public space. By synthesizing both the quantitative and qualitative data collected, a holistic understanding of older adults’ narratives was achieved. The study revealed that despite feeling mentally prepared for an endemic COVID-19, their perceived safety levels are less than desired especially in indoor environments. The study also uncovered the various implementations and resources that older adults would like to see in public spaces to help ameliorate their fears. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/235804 |
