Abstract: Nanoplatelets (NPLs), as a new member in the shape-controlled nanocrystal family, have exhibited many thickness-dependent optical properties due to the strong quantum confinement effect. Featuring narrow emission linewidth, giant oscillator strength and large absorption cross-section, the nanoplatelets are promising for potential applications in optoelectronics, especially in the display area. In this thesis, we provide detailed investigations on the synthesis and corresponding display applications of core/crown nanoplatelets. The CdSe/CdS core/crown nanoplatelets with high quantum yield are synthesized. Then, this material is applied as the color-convert layer in the photoluminescent display module and as the emission layer in electroluminescent devices, respectively. Finally, a high-saturated and ultra-wide color gamut display module and a high external quantum efficiency NPL-LED are achieved.
