dc.description.abstract | AbstractWe looked effects of acupuncture in neck pain patients: effect on blood flow of hands; differences in real and placebo acupuncture.30 neck pain patients and 18 controls, were given 10 sessions of acupuncture. Hand temperatures were taken using infrared camera. In patient group there was significant rise in temperature at 10th session compared to 1st. In control group no acupuncture was given. Here we saw a significant decrease in temperature. Also baseline temperature of neck pain patients was significantly lower than control group. In second part of study, neck pain patients were randomly allocated into real and sham group (n=30 each). 7 sessions of real or sham acupuncture were given. In real group (2 drop outs) total 24 patients improved. In placebo group (11 drop outs) 10 patients improved. Conclusion: Real acupuncture is superior to sham acupuncture in all aspects measured in our study. | |
