Title: | WATERFRONT LIVING : A STUDY OF SENTOSA COVE | Authors: | NUR AZILAH BINTE JUNARI | Issue Date: | 2005 | Citation: | NUR AZILAH BINTE JUNARI (2005). WATERFRONT LIVING : A STUDY OF SENTOSA COVE. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | This research study attempts to analyse the development of Sentosa Cove. As this development is a first of its kind in Singapore, it is an interesting topic to delve into as the concept of waterfront housing that Sentosa Cove is introducing is fairly new to our local property scene. This study aims to identify the factors that may contribute to the success of the development and its shortcomings. Other objectives of the study include what attracts and repels consumers from the development. These objectives are to be achieved through a qualitative and quantitative analysis. Firstly, a study of Sentosa Cove and of another similar development, The Palm Island in Dubai will be carried out to highlightthe features that the former has and its weaknesses, through lessons learnt from the latter. A quantitative analysis was done, based on the results of a survey conducted. The analysis has unravelled that a self-sustained development is what the consumers want, that is, with complete amenities provided, excellent access within and beyond the island. Security is also one of the main concerns of potential buyers due to its location and a view of the sea is the main attraction of the development. Consumers are generally satisfied with features provided but felt that more could be done to improve security issues and more recreational facilities could be added. The study clearly illustrates the changes that the development has brought into the local property scene and may change the course of waterfront housing in the future. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/230810 |
