Abstract: Mitigation of chromatic dispersion is essential for the coincident detection of broadband Spontaneous Parametric Down Converted (SPDC) photons pairs in fiber-based quantum communication. Nonlocal dispersion compensation offers a solution without relying upon spectral filtering of the source. Investigations into the sensitivity of this scheme to variables such as the pump wavelength and crystal temperature were conducted. Ultimately, high-efficiency, broadband, telecommunication fiber-based nonlocal dispersion compensation was demonstrated. Temporal correlations of broadband nondegenerate SPDC photons were preserved within picoseconds of the resolution of the detection apparatus (46ps) by utilizing the chromatic dispersion properties of the ITU-T G.652/7 fiber and G.655 fiber to suppress and eliminate the effect of chromatic dispersion. This scheme was shown to be highly efficient, with losses of no more than 0.8dB to compensate for chromatic dispersion incurred over a cumulative distance of 40km of G.652 fiber. The scheme’s simplicity and efficiency renders it compatible with real-world deployment.
