Abstract: Presenteeism has been prevalent in the construction industry, with little research into its influencing factors. There is a need to fill the research gap and to gain a better understanding into the motivations behind a phenomenon that has led to loss in work productivity and economic losses. This study focuses on mental well-being and how it influences construction professionals to engage in presenteeism. This study utilizes surveys and interviews to understand the opinions of construction professionals who have experienced it first hand. The respondents and interviewees have worked in the industry for a minimum of 3 years, and have worked in the industry before the pandemic had occurred. The data collected is then analyzed using a thematic analysis. The data collected and analyzed revealed that the mental well-being of construction professionals does not have a significant impact on the prevalence of presenteeism. This suggests that other factors could have a greater influence within the construction industry.
