Issue Date: | 2022 | Citation: | XUE JIADE (2022). A FRAMEWORK TO BRIDGE ENERGY PEROFRMANCE GAPS IN EDUCATIONAL BUILDINGS – CASE STUDY OF NUS SDE-4. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Performance gap, which is a disparity between the predicted energy consumption during the design stage and the actual consumption of a building in the operation stage is a common issue in the construction industry for most buildings that are being constructed. Therefore, to aid future projects to minimise performance gaps present, a framework and methodology to decrease the performance gap would be derived. This paper will be focussed on identifying and bridging the performance gap that is present in SDE-4, an educational building that is also a net-zero energy building in order to derive a methodology and framework that can be used for other similar educational buildings to decrease the performance gap present. Based on the analysis done, the main source of performance gap present in SDE-4 would be the large variance between the input power density and the actual consumption, as well as a lack of schedule that closely reflect the occupancy schedule of the area. Calibration could be done using the data available to match the values and patterns identified above to bridge the gaps that are present. For buildings that do not have metered data available, consumption trends obtained in this paper could still be used as reference when designing inputs of the energy model. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/226637 |
