A REVIEW ON SINGAPORE GREENMARK DISTRICT (GMD)

Abstract

The study of sustainable development has raised great interest in developing and enhancing existing environmental assessment tools. This report analyses the development of environmental assessment tools (particularly Singapore‟s Greenmark District) used for assessing the environmental standard of a large parcel of land also known as district. The analysis shows that no tool is perfect. All tools including Singapore Greenmark District (GMD) have their weaknesses. However, with the growing needs for sustainable development, assessment tools have to be improved to meet the standards and requirements.
