dc.description.abstract | In a current situation where our long historic use of fossil fuels as a basic means of energy production has significantly altered our living environment, it is time to be investigating the applicability of the renewable energies and to improve their technology. This paper will have a particular focus on the pros and cons of wind technology, the small and micro winds aspect and its application in Singapore’s context – whether it is feasible for wind technology implementation locally. A case study will be presented, showcasing the first turbine installation in a residential area. There will also be discussions on the impact of the technology locally – in terms of the presence of the turbine, integration issue with the building, and the option of contributing such energy into our local electricity network. The paper will end off with some suggested possibilities that Singapore can exploit from the technology has to offer – the future of wind technology manifested in small and micro turbines in Singapore. | |
