Abstract: This study focuses on evaluating an energy rating program - Building Energy Quotient (BEQ). BEQ is implemented by the ASHRAE and has been in the market for over 8 years. In this study, the process of adopting the BEQ tool will be demonstrated and how it is applicable to use in buildings in Singapore. Hence, in order to provide a thorough evaluation on this program, an Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) site walkthrough was proposed. The walkthrough will be conducted on a building in Singapore. Data collection such as architectural site drawings and energy data bills are important in aiding the BEQ analysis. The BEQ Workbook documents all the relevant data, which is submitted to the ASHRAE Committee for review. The ASHRAE Committee will then generate a BEQ rating to be issued to the building owner. Recommendations are also made, so that the energy consumption can be further reduced to improve the BEQ rating From this study, it hopes to encourage more building owners to adopt this effective and convenient tool to analyze energy use.
