dc.description.abstract | Over the years, extensive changes in the retail malls can be readily observed. The most obvious change seen would be through the implementation of the green features due to the ‘Green Mark Scheme’, introduced by the Building and Construction Authority in 2005. Based on the literature, several studies identify the benefits for green building from the real estate developers. However, limited or no studies have shown how green buildings appeal to shoppers. Given the phenomenon that the retail malls in Singapore are homogenous and with the rising trend of e-commerce, it is crucial that mall owners understand shoppers' views and implement innovative ways to attract them. This study therefore seeks to establish the well-received green features and other features that are deemed to be appealing to the different types of shoppers, so as to increase the traffic flow of the retail malls. Meaningful findings are duly noted and recommendations are proposed for retail developers and owners to consider for adoption, in order to make their retail malls unique, to remain competitive and sustainable. | |
