dc.description.abstractSafety has been a concerning issue in the construction industry. In view of the current safety management, there are a few prominent safety management tools implemented in the construction industry to curb the relatively high occurrence of accidents in construction industry. Now, there is an increasing concern towards safety culture in the company as industry players begin to see it as a critical role for improving safety performance. The objective of this research is to investigate the safety practices that are practiced by companies with good safety records, to investigate the factors affecting safety performance on site, to establish learning values from accident investigation. The research Hypothesis would be compliance to the documentation and implementation of detailed safety practices are effective in improving safety performance on site. Multiple conclusions and learning points were drawn from the study. These conclusions were formulated by conclusion from the site visits, important findings by conducting CSI assessment and lastly questionnaire. Some conclusions include different projects although under the same company could perform differently in terms of safety management. This is due to important factors such the presence of a good standard guide for workers to follow , level of client commitment level and constant monitoring and frequent visits to site.
