ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Singapore's is a nation unique on many fronts; from her provision of public housing and greening of the city to her dynamic economic diversity, which has resulted in her rise in economic and social status among many of the world‟s major players. Her world renowned reputation as a “Garden City” has been one of her key selling points in her urban development and planning. Yet in recent years, with the growing competitiveness of both globalisation and glocalisation, planners are faced with the dilemma of land use optimalization in a bid to remain competitive. Therefore, this study will look at the planner‟s perspective of planning for both the green parks and land use intensification. Seeking to understand the relationship between land use intensification and green parks, in light of the increasing needs of both the population and the economy, the study will attempt to establish the tendency of planners to intensify residential land usage in areas of close proximity to the green parks, using the concept of proximate principle coupled with planning theories and ideals | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/223490 |
