dc.description.abstract | Apart with inter-connectedness of transportation network in accord of living needs of the community, Bukit Panjang is today a completely barrier-free new town, served by highly accessible transport services and a Light Rail Transit (LRT) Feeder which connects Bukit Panjang as a system, but not yet a humanized system. The term : "Humanized transport system" would infer a high responsive transport system which caters for human activities with increased interaction, along the miles they travel, This paper seek to improve the sensitivity and the experience for the buzz of the community. In this system, people would have multiple choices, freedom of movement, free flow of goods and services, encouraging human interaction and community participation. This dissertation seeks to address current transport system and the issue of why localized public transport are not part of a humanized system which we live and gain access to the facilities of where we live. The paper would base its findings for a free movement transport system in Singapore - Bukit Panjang New Town. This paper aims to offer a deeper understanding of the localized environment. Using qualitative data from site observations and documentation, this paper will evaluate the existing transport system and accessibility in the built environment. Lastly, this paper concludes with an emphasis on re-examining the flexibility and humanization of a transport system. This is to test how a "humanized transport" system can transform the last mile experience with functions to enhance the cycling, walking, barrier free and recreation activities for a happier and robust community. | |
