dc.description.abstract | In many countries, the construction sector is deemed to be one of the most challenging industries. In view of resolving the defragmentation problem in the local construction sector and to aim for better improvement in productivity and efficiency, the construction sector has been actively tapping on the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM). BIM is widely accepted by the built-environment professionals as an indispensable tool to enhance their productivity from the design to the downstream construction stages. And also, BIM encourages collaborative working among different disciplines. However, there is limited evidence to showcase the existence of frameworks for the contractor firms to assess their BIM maturity status so as to reach the optimised level, which thus allows the contractor firms to realise the full benefits that BIM brings about. This study focuses on identifying the criteria that influences the levels of BIM maturity in the local context. Quantitative data was collated through a survey questionnaire sent to the local contractors that are registered with Building & Construction Authority (BCA). The results will then be analysed using statistical tools such as the Mean Value Ranking, One Sample t-test and Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient test. Thereafter, to tackle the research problem, a framework is proposed to assist contractor firms to assess and improve their BIM maturity status. | |
