Abstract: Due to insufficient studies in the adoption of Smart FM in Singapore’s university student hostel, research has been done to understand such low adoption of Smart FM. This study aims to understand the barrier towards the low adoption of Smart FM and recommend solutions. Findings include management perspectives from facilities managers thus being able to provide a deeper insight into the underlying factors that must be considered before implementing Smart FM technologies in student hostels. Qualitative research method was used, interviews were conducted to give a better perspective of Smart FM adoption. After data collection, an extensive analysis was carried out and solutions are proposed to help encourage and motivate facilities managers to adopt Smart FM and be future-ready.
