With the increased challenges faced in Singapore due to the effects of rapid urbanization, it becomes essential to work towards sustainable development. Being sustainable will provide Singapore with many benefits, reduction of carbon footprints, increased usage of limited land spaces and higher quality of living for its people. As such, the aim of this study is to search for new innovative ways to sustainable development. This study will include innovative ideas for sustainability using eco-friendly facilities. Singapore is a peoples’ island, therefore, it is important to start works for sustainability at the heart of the island. Several works were reviewed to identify the sustainable approach applicable to Singapore’s town planning system, followed by small proposals for the integration of eco-friendly facilities to promote sustainability. Surveys were conducted with the main resource of Singapore; its’ people. The surveys were conducted for a better understanding of the peoples’ thoughts and views into sustainability and eco-friendly facilities for the new towns they are residing in. It was found that majority of the respondents were in favor of eco-friendly facilities especially if it provides individual cost savings. In view of the findings, it can be concluded that eco-friendly facilities will be suitable providing for sustainability in Singapore. However, there are limitations of insufficient time to do a deeper in-depth study and interviews with respective government bodies may be more precise than the used press release.
