The thesis investigates the problems of the old railway stations which causes the disruption to the urban fabric and the great divide of the city communities. The thesis uses the Bangkok Central Station as an example to illustrate an idea to connect the two sides of the railways and bridge the urban gap. At the same time, through this project, lost urban space is recovered. The existing urban fabric of the Hua Lamphong area demonstrates inadequate space for the public and limited green and open space. The project utilizes the unused air space above the platform, and provides the communities and the passengers spaces for recreation, leisure and entertainment. The key functional volume is the big roof hovering over the platform, which itself is a three dimensional truss space. Both the inner space and the roof top are essential meeting and gathering points for the public. The profile of the roof and the use of the ETFE membrane as the finish symbolize the natural condition of the cloud.
