Abstract: With rising student population in National University of Singapore (NUS), it is inevitable to continuously expand the infrastructures and introduce new buildings on the NUS landscape. NUS Kent Ridge Campus (KRC) is like a city in smaller scale. A microclimatic study on NUS KRC will provide a better understanding on the current thermal performance and outdoor thermal comfort of the campus. Continuous weather data including air temperature, solar radiation, relative humidity and wind speed for 21 monitoring points in KRC is collected from 1st Jan 2019 to 31st Jan 2019. Qualitative analysis is conducted on the weather data collected with the aid of statistical charting and Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping. The possible influencing factors of urban morphology parameters on air temperature, wind speed and thermal comfort are deduced. Hot spots and cold spots are identified during the analysis. Furthermore, outdoor thermal comfort of NUS is evaluated with the use of Outdoor Thermal Comfort Index for Singapore. It is concluded that Prince George Park Residence, has poor outdoor thermal comfort. The GIS Maps produced can be used for future Urban Climatic Mapping analysis. The overall results of this project could be utilized to improve the environmental conditions and thermal comfort in NUS KRC. Recommendations given based on the results can be used as a guideline for future NUS KRC master planning. Limitation of the project is highlighted and could be considered in future studies.
