dc.description.abstract | Facility Managers (FMs) are gaining importance as they move into the core operational functions of client organizations in the recent years. To continuously offer real added value improvements to an organisation’s core business, it is vital to ensure that FMs are satisfied with, committed to and show efficiency in their work. The aim of this study is to boost job satisfaction of FMs in Singapore. The research method is based on a structured questionnaire with the goal of determining the relationship between 39 job-related independent variables and 10 person and work outcomes that were gathered from the literature review. It is hypothesised that there exist certain job characteristics that could give rise to higher personal and work outcomes. The data was collected through electronic mail and paid postage, and subsequently analysed using SPSS software. One sample T-test revealed 23 job characteristics that are significantly present, observed, practiced or emphasised in the facility management profession. These may be categorized into: availability of skill variety, presence of task identity, significance of completing the tasks, having autonomy, growth need strength and work context satisfaction. Additionally, Pearson’s Correlation analysis found that growth satisfaction, internal work motivation and turnover have the highest associations with other work outcomes. Finally, recommendations were made to achieve the desired outcomes right in order to give rise to many other good work outcomes. | |
