Abstract: The design project is a response to shape Pulau Ubin into an Eco-friendly island while enhancing its various learning opportunities. To increase the amount of facilities while not increasing the amount of building footprint to protect the nature setting of the island, an abandoned resort on the island was chosen as the site. The brief of the project is to look into how some of the buildings on site can be retrofitted to fit some of the proposed facilities with the necessary technologies as well as establishing a scientific facility to carry out researches and experiments with resources from the various habitats found across the island. The site also acts as a test bed to understand whether these technological implementation will be viable for the whole of Pulau Ubin or even on mainland Singapore. The Architectural language and aesthetic was design to enhance some of the methods adopted by the facility to process on site resources and waste such as rainwater and black /greywater. New scientific facilities are built with pre-fabricated elements that can be reconfigured to allow the facilities to change and adapt to the needs of different kind of researches.
