dc.description.abstractSince 2010, the use of BIM in construction projects has been steadily on the rise. However, BIM is not without its own limitations. Artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted BIM are technology currently being researched on and developed to reduce the difficulties currently faced in using BIM and in the industry in general. Due to the relatively newness of this technology, there is little known data on its use cases in Singapore. There is a lack in research on the adoption rates and effectiveness of AI in Singapore’s construction industry. Most of the research are mainly focused on the development and applications of methods to implement AI. There is no existing study made with regards to the management of AI and AI-assisted BIM in the industry today. This study will focus on the perceptions of the potential use of AI in the construction industry. A questionnaire survey and an interview are conducted to gather the opinions of industry professionals from various backgrounds. Results show that the people have a generally positive outlook on the effectiveness of the use of AI and are willing to adopt it. However, the main barrier with regards to adopting it is the relatively high initial cost.
