Abstract: Building Information Modeling (BIM) is the up-and-coming trend in the construction industry to date. Many countries, like the United States and the United Kingdom are already implementing this advancement through their public sectors; Singapore is also one of the many. BIM is well-known for its ability to resolve the fragmented nature of the construction industry. However, the deployment of BIM within the construction industry has strict requirements and is faced with many difficulties due to the lack standards for implementation and management. There is insufficient means to verify the BIM capabilities of an organisation. These difficulties often lead to operation inefficiencies throughout the project lifecycle and contradict much of the professed benefits of BIM. This dissertation evaluates the possibility of a performance assessment framework that attempts to resolve the difficulties of BIM deployment in the local context. Through conducting a series of research analysis on existing assessment models and implementation guides, the development of a set of performance metrics for assessment and the integration of best assessment practices can be made possible in a simplified structure. It is believed that the combination of Organisational BIM Initiation, Technology, People, Process and Policy in the stages of implementation and management will determine the overall level of BIM performance.
