This study explores the communication conditions in overseas construction projects. With the increasing export of construction services, Singapore construction professionals are playing the dual role of international construction consultants as well as global communicators. In another words, the export of construction services is not only about selling their construction expertise in the global construction industry but also their interpersonal skills in negotiating and managing cultural differences so as to ensure the smooth delivery of the international collaborations. The objective of this research is to provide a comprehensive view to the current situation, so as to identify communication challenges and determine the source of conflicts. The strengths of Singapore construction professionals will also be outlined in the study to provide a better understanding of the competitive advantage of Singapore experts. Finally, a framework to effective intercultural construction communication will be proposed based on the findings of the study to provide guidelines for Singapore construction professionals.
