The Siem Reap town is flourished with tourism developments. The local residences who sold their land have to move into the slum sites with inadequate infrastructures and poor environment. To improve such condition, Many NGOs are cooperating with hotels and travel agencies on Voluntourism. However the works done are temporary and superficial. Therefore the thesis explores the idea of an anchored NGO-run guesthouse among the slum itself to redevelop the area. The guesthouse rooms are built on poles to minimize footprint on the crowded slum ground. The guesthouse on one hand supply free infrastructure service such as electricity and water to the slum households. The volunteers on the other hand, establish community facilities and public spaces in the middle of slum. The design of individual pole houses integrates different functions response to different site forces, the façade and roof becomes part of the public space. The thesis also addresses on the construction method within the limited site constrain, the application of local materials and the possible outcome of such interventions.
