Abstract: The paper was conducted with both qualitative and quantitative measurement to carry out site assessment on plant’s performance in a vertical greenery system. Field measurements were carried out on a few suitable sites to determine if climatic variables are a factor for plant’s performance in a vertical greenery system. Quality of green walls was visually assessed on site by qualified horticulturist and interviews with site management staff and experts to learn about each vertical greenery system maintenance regime. Contractual specifications were assessed and discussed to determine if they affect the nature and performance of how the vertical green wall is being maintain. There were limited studies on the plant’s performance on a vertical greenery system. Thus, this paper was set out to research the performance of plants in different various vertical greenery system and other factors that may hamper or improve its performances. The findings show that proper plant selection and subsequent maintenance is prevalent to the sustainability and maintainability of the plants in the vertical greenery system. It also finds out that proper collaboration between the building owners and contractors is also essential to effectively implement the operation and maintenance of the vertical greenery system. Different contractual obligations and specifications also plays a part in determining the maintenance of the vertical green wall.
