dc.description.abstract | The use of sustainable assessment tools has become widespread during the turn of the 21st century. Since the economic downturn in 2004, many cities in Asia Pacific became aware of the impact unsustainable development has on their economic growth. With the growing influence of assessment tools, most of Asia’s newly established green building council believe in the use of assessment tools to help guide their cities towards sustainability and encourage its market towards “green” design. Today, the two commonly found assessment tools are the building assessment tool and the neighbourhood assessment tool. In this study, 11 tools from Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, China, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and India have been selected and analyze with the aim to provide insights into how each of these assessment tools address the sustainable challenges of Asian cities. | |
