Globally, the notion for sustainability and energy efficiency has been ever increasing in light of climate change. The built industry is no exception. The Green Mark Scheme is introduced in Singapore to push the built environment towards a green future. As Singapore focus on the green built environment increases, the need to operate and maintain a green building becomes more and more crucial. As such, facilities managers are vital in ensuring that green buildings continue to function at a performance, in the most sustainable manner. Such operations and maintenance are guided by the latest version of the Green Mark Scheme, as building owners will tend to strive to attain a good Green Mark certification. With the constant improving of the Green Mark Scheme, additional focus on the building operations and maintenance can be observed.
