Punggol Waterway was officially opened in the last quarter of year 2011. Costing $225 million, it features a waterway that serves as a connector between Sungei Serangoon and Sungei Punggol, as well as Punggol Waterway Park, which is the first eco-park in Singapore. This makes Punggol Waterway the first of its kind to be built in Singapore. Therefore, this dissertation aims to assess the government’s investment on Punggol Waterway, in terms the effects of Punggol Waterway on the quality of life of the residents. Through these objectives, this dissertation has two hypotheses: 1) the inception of Punggol Waterway has improved the quality of life of residents 2) the government’s investment is justified. Surveys were done in order to prove the previous mentioned hypotheses. The data collected are then analysed through the use of descriptive and bivariate analyses. The main test used in this dissertation, however, is the binary logistic regression. Two models are formed and used for the main analyses of this dissertation. Through the regressions, it was found that Punggol Waterway has improved the quality of life of the residents as well as users. Also, majority of the users agreed that the government’s $225 million investment on the waterway is justified. Through these findings, it can be determined whether the government should incept this kind of concept in other parts of Singapore. Recommendations for improvement of Punggol Waterway are also presented in the last chapter of this dissertation.
