Issue Date: | 18-Jun-2012 | Citation: | CHIN LI DE (2012-06-18). LESSONS ON WASTE MANAGEMENT FOR SINGAPORE. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Ministry of National Development has announced the redevelopment of Jurong Lake District to model it as a sustainable urban development. This is in view of the national food waste-recycling target of 30% by 2012. This following research looks into the tropical countries’ practices and extract exemplary food waste recycling systems and practices. The case studies will include Taiwan, Hong Kong and Seoul where municipal policies structures and cultures support their recycling targets. Many of them are recycled as Farm Food and facilities to compost as fertilizers. Some of the interesting policy implications from the case studies are implementation of source sorting through legislation or economic incentives and development of an integrated waste management system to support source sorting. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/221071 |
