dc.description.abstractBuilding Information Modelling (BIM) has been explored and championed as an innovative process that will bring about significant and positive changes for the productivity-driven built environment industry. Strong governmental support in Singapore has been provided to the industry to boost BIM adoption and implementation levels so that the industry may become more efficient and achieve higher productivity levels. Other than financial support, there must be a supply of professionals who have the relevant skills and knowledge in BIM in order for BIM implementation in Singapore to experience progress. Through BIM education, individuals can be trained with the right skill sets and knowledge to support the industry’s efforts in implementing and adopting BIM for their projects. This paper investigates and explores the global and local trends of BIM education. It investigates the barriers of implementing BIM education and explores the potential strategies that may help in overcoming them through a systematic review. Results of the analyses in this study show that the industry has a strong demand for graduates with specific BIM skills and knowledge, and that both the academia and the industry have their roles to play in contributing to the progress of BIM education. A framework was proposed supported by key findings obtained from the systematic review to tackle the research problem.
