ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Over the years, many researchers have tried to pinpoint the factors that homebuyers used to decide between different choices of housing. However, the fact remains that many people still ended up being dissatisfied with their residence, despite knowing what they wanted initially when purchasing their units. Today, residential satisfaction is recognized as an important component of individuals’ general quality of life. In a bid to boost our understanding of the residential satisfaction concept, and reduce the number of people being dissatisfied with their housing ultimately, perhaps, more emphasis should be given to identify the determinants of post purchase residential dissatisfaction. The aim of this study is firstly, to determine which housing attribute, or socio-demographic variable is most closely associated with post purchase residential satisfaction, and the causes of housing dissatisfaction. Secondly, to identify the socio-demographic subgroup(s) that is/are related to the satisfaction of particular housing attribute(s). This study has revealed that the top two determinants of post purchase satisfaction are satisfaction with neighborly relations and that of privacy. On top of that, many interesting relationships between various socio-demographic subgroups and satisfaction of housing attributes are established, including the elderly being related to lower level of satisfaction with peacefulness, proximity and cleanliness of environment, and those with longer duration of residence being associated with higher level of satisfaction with neighborly relations. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/220672 |
