Abstract: Over the last half century, the exploration of materials especially concrete, steel, glass and plastic has grown at an exponential rate. Traditional material which has many environmental and physical benefits is neglected to primitive material. There has also been little change in the basic materials and methods of construction in the industry. Traditional rammed earth material has been neglect due to the improvement in emerging material. However, it offers many opportunities in term of geometry flexibility and sustainability because of its material properties and easy accessibility. Improvement can also be done to material for better performance. Digital fabrication improves the traditional rammed earth construction industry. The development in computer-aided design and rapid manufacturing greatly reduce time and manpower through the use of automation. Better accuracy and quality can also be guarantee. Rammed earth can be revive and reuse with today construction techniques and technology. Contour Crafting, D Shape and Freeform Construction showcase alternative construction method to produce building and component. Some ancient building techniques ideas were revive from the past and combine with contemporary technology to demonstrate the possibility of future earth construction.
