Since maintenance budget is limited, it significantly requires an efficient maintenance cost control program so that maintenance cost is minimized and level of maintenance services is provided up to standard that building users can get benefits from a safe, healthy and efficient working environment. The objectives of the study are to get an insight into practice of maintenance cost control, review the status of maintenance cost control of office buildings and provide recommendations to problems faced by office building owners. Survey was conducted in the form of questionnaire and data was collected via internet from office building owners. Interviews were also carried out to emphasize important issues in the survey. Findings reveal that office building owners appreciate the importance of maintenance cost control though their current practice on maintenance cost control is evaluated as not efficient, since they encounter difficulties and barriers in implementing the practice. Based on data analysis and findings, recommendations are made to resolve problems and improve practice of maintenance cost control.
