Issue Date: | 29-Dec-2020 | Citation: | WONG JING XUN JUSTIN FRANCIS (2020-12-29). PROPOSED BIM-FM FRAMEWORK AND SYSTEM FORTOWNSHIP IMPLEMENTATION AND MANAGEMENT. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | The facilities management industry in our country in undergoing a major change under the Construction Industry Transformation Map (CITM). The roadmap is aimed at digitalising work processes and bringing together the fragmented nature of the built environment industry. This roadmap falls under the Smart Nation Initiative aimed at transforming Singapore into a Smart Nation. Smart Nation encompasses the use of smart towns to provide an integrated smart platform in enriching residents lives and improving work processes across HDB estates. The use of smart towns encompasses the use of BIM for facilities management (BIM-FM) to aid in the provision of smart digital solutions through the HDB estates. However, the use of BIM-FM is still in the infancy stage of development and usage within the country. Currently, the town councils (TCs) governing the HDB estates within the country are experimenting with the use of BIM to aid with their facilities management work processes. However, the use of BIM for facilities management in township management is met with several challenges. Firstly, there is such a large scope of activities in facilities management that makes it hard to quantify them properly into a single system. Secondly, there is a lack of documentation regarding overcoming the challenges and the benefits regarding the use of BIM for facilities management within the country. Thus, this dissertation endeavours to have an undertaking to identify the latest trends in BIM-FM which includes the following: 1) Online literature reviews on facilities management, especially in BIM for facilities management, 2) Conducting of online surveys and interview with different stakeholders with regards to BIM for Facilities Management. The results from the undertaking resulted in the creation of the BIM-FM Township Implementation and Management Framework aimed at assisting the implementation of BIM-FM system for township management. Additionally, results from the undertaking found the following: 1) information requirements required for BIM-FM, 2) value delivery of facilities management activities that can be improved using BIM-FM, 3) Benefits resulting from the implementation of BIM-FM. Most importantly, the undertaking resulted in the development of ITEMS -BIM-FM prototype system created using AXURE RP9. It aims to be a smart BIM-FM integrated platform used for township management purposes. ITEMS consist of many township management-related features aimed at assisting Holland Bukit-Panjang Town Council (HBPTC) and other town councils to improve their daily work processes. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/220037 |
