Abstract: Many studies examined the positive economic and social benefits that the MICE industry has brought about. However research seems to be lacking in addressing the environmental impact of MICE events. To address the environmental issues and sustainability, the MICE industry has demonstrated to sustainability by rolling out several green initiatives in Singapore. This study aims to understand the environmental impact of the Trade Exhibition industry, identify the green initiatives introduced in Singapore's MICE industry, analyse the key activities and the green practices implemented for Trade Exhibition. Survey questionnaire and semi-structured interviews were conducted to gain insightful information about the Trade Exhibition industry. Furthermore, it allows the organiser to assess the importance of key activities and green practices to underpin the set of weightage assigned to the key activities. Next, a Sustainable Framework is proposed to evaluate the sustainability performance of the exhibition. The framework includes a suggested list of green practices, documentary requirements to be carried out under each key exhibition activity, and a scoring method was developed to determine the sustainability achievement level of the exhibition. Recommendations are also made to improve the proposed Sustainable Framework for adoption by the industry.
