Client-related reworks are frequent in the Singapore construction industry. It is a prevalent problem and studies have shown that reworks can affect overall project performances of construction projects. Analyzing the survey data obtained from 51 companies (31 contractor firms and 20 client firms), this research aims to explore client-related rework factors, and assess the differences between contractor and client’s views on the impacts of these factors. Furthermore, it identifies the status of rework caused by clients in the Singapore construction industry. The results of this study established that client is the prevailing project player contributing to rework in projects. “Change of plans or scope by client” was identified to have the greatest impact on project performance. Client-related reworks are likely to cause an average increase of 5-10% to project cost and 2-7 weeks delay to project schedule. Design errors and design changes are registered as major factors contributing to rework in construction projects. The identification of client-related reworks and their impacts can aid in reducing the occurrence of reworks, and achieve better project performances.
