Issue Date: | 27-May-2011 | Citation: | WONG LEI YA (2011-05-27). REFURBISHING THE LIVING MUSEUM CITY. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | If the city is a living museum city where tourists view it as a museum full of wonder and intrigue about a foreign culture that fascinates them and satisfies their desire to learn about a different culture, then, the living city (the locals), need to rein the curation of this museum city which the tourists come into. The building is seen as an exemplar of how the travelling curators and the (stagnant? / lobby) curators of the city comes together to curate this museum city. The frames of the looms curate weekly the travelling curators’ increased knowledge of one aspect of the culture in the city of Fès – Berber weaving, whereby at the end of their curatorial, they take home more than a frame of this carpet, but a frame of the knowledge that went on behind this carpet which is lavished with the experience of interacting with the local artisans in the medina of Fès. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/219872 |
