Abstract: Mixed-use developments are becoming increasingly popular in Singapore’s urban landscape. With the growth in mixed-use developments also being encouraged by the Singapore Government, it is essential for industry professionals to be aware of the management of such developments. This dissertation will study the two management corporation (“MC”) schemes which mixed- use developments can choose either or to implement. A literature review was conducted on the legal issues related to such developments. Interviews were conducted with lawyers and managing agents (“MAs”) to gain insight into the operational and legal issues encountered by professionals. Proposed amendments to the BMSMA were made to mitigate the operational and legal issues analysed from the interviews. Finally, the limitations of this study and recommendations for future research were identified.
