Title: | OPTION BASED SOLUTIONS PROMOTING BEHAVIOR DRIVEN HOUSEHOLD ENERGY EFFICIENCY | Authors: | XU QIAN | Keywords: | Household Energy-Saving Option, Household Energy-Saving Behavior, Willingness to Accept, Theory of Planned Behaviour, Systematic Optimization | Issue Date: | 20-Aug-2021 | Citation: | XU QIAN (2021-08-20). OPTION BASED SOLUTIONS PROMOTING BEHAVIOR DRIVEN HOUSEHOLD ENERGY EFFICIENCY. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Despite the wide application of occupant energy-saving interventions, households still showed an increment in energy consumption. Exploring an effective and cost-efficient intervention is essential in promoting household energy conservation. This study aims to develop an innovative energy intervention - Household Energy-Saving Option (HESO), an option-based strategy that offers households an opportunity to earn the reward, depending on whether they achieve the energy-saving goal. Specifically, this research proposes a conceptual framework of HESO and investigates influencing factors of residents’ adoption intention. This research also develops an optimization model for HESO’s market-equilibrium price and goal-setting ranges. The results demonstrate that HESO positively encourages energy conservation, and the personal norm has a decisive effect on households’ energy-saving behavioral intention. This study contributes to the literature by developing, understanding, and validating an option-based residential energy-saving intervention - HESO. The findings yield decisive insights for policymakers at the neighborhood level, thus contributing to practices. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/216509 |
