dc.description.abstractOrganic electronics molecules in combination with light has opened up a plethora of applications in the area of biomedical, electronic and optoelectronic devices. Upon excitation with light source, organic molecules admit different types of photophysical and photochemical pathways and provide unique applications through each pathway. Given the importance to biomedical area, most of these molecules are soluble in organic solvents, which makes them incompatible for end applications. In addition, these molecules are hydrophobic and prone to aggregation in an aqueous environment, which generates colloidal instability and water dispersibility issues. Encapsulating these molecules into amphiphilic matrices to render them hydrophilic and biocompatible, through the formation of nanocarriers, aids in effective biological applications. Hence, in this work, some systematic and controlled formulation techniques are developed to render these molecules into nanocarriers. Different class of organic molecules, such as aggregation induced emission (AIE) dyes, phosphorescent dyes and conjugated polymers, are used as examples for the fabrication of water dispersible and biocompatible nanocarriers.
