dc.description.abstractThe change in work trends today demand changes in the workplace design. As workers spend more time in the office, a good working environment has becomes of paramount importance. This study attempts to analyse the various environmental factors and the extent to which these factors affect the performance of the town council workers. Environmental factors include Thermal Comfort, Quality of Air, Lighting, Sound, Office Layout and Office Equipment form the basis for evaluating the workplace environment in the office. A regression model was generated with "Worker Performance" as the dependent variable. Results showed that Thermal Comfort and Lighting were critical. The other four factors: Quality of Air, Sound, Office Layout and Office Equipment were not significant factors affecting the performance of the workers. In the ranking of the environmental factors, the top three factors that most of the respondents feel could affect their level of satisfaction are: Quality of Air, Thermal Comfort and Lighting. The findings suggest that in order to provide a working environment that could improved the workers' performance, the office planner could consider the three critical factors during the design stage and incorporate the workers' suggestions into their discussion when planning of the whole office design settings.
