dc.description.abstractSince the invention of the telephone, life on earth has never been the same. The evolution of technologies has transformed the way human interacts and communicates with each other. Coupled with the advancement of artificial intelligence into everyday equipments such as the televisions, telephones, video and computers, has elevated the new concept of a communicable hardware. Internet is yet another wave of advancement that brings human ever closer to the mechanical marvels. Internet has since evolved into our private domain, paving way for the much hyped about smart home, connected home or Internet home. Whatever name it comes with, it has the same purpose. That is, to enable the control of various equipments in the house and those around it such as security systems, entertaining, and home appliances within the reach of the owner, wherever, whenever, and however. Although the concept of Internet Home is no longer an impossible task, its application in Singapore has yet to be fully comprehended. The various projects mentioned in this writing will further support the notion that Internet home ideology cannot stand on its own. Its operability is much dependable on the soft skills that make up an integral part of the functioning of the concept. Nonetheless, as in any new convention, its effectiveness will take time for its idea to be fully imbibed.
