dc.description.abstract | The Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore (URA), as the national conservation authority, seeks to strengthen Singapore's linkage to her past as well as to provide a distinctive character and identity to the city through the conservation of significant buildings or areas. Many of the areas that have undergone conservation have become entertainment and/or dining destinations. However, not all of these areas have experienced the same degree of success in attracting visitors. The purpose of this research is to provide an insight into the factors that may have an effect on the success of an evening entertainment-cumdining destination in a conservation area in Singapore. Boat Quay was used as a case study. It was found that a visitor's decision of whether or not to visit a particular evening entertainment-cum-dining destination is influenced not only by the product attributes of a destination but also external factors. This in turn has an effect on the success of the destination. | |
