dc.description.abstract | The Southern Growth Triangle (SGT) was formed to allow further growth and development in the three regions - Johor State of Malaysia, Singapore and Riau Province of Indonesia. The undaunting efforts of the politicians of these countries have made this seemingly unattainable economic cooperation possible in the outset. However, recent views by many practitioners of economics and planning have pointed out that this development has reached an impasse. One of the causes behind the impasse is the inadequacy of the 'Regional Comparative Advantage' concept adopted thus far as the theoretical framework for this development. Perroux Francoise's Pole of Development concept is suggested in this study for this development to breakthrough the deadlock encountered. The implications of adopting this concept are also discussed in this study. | |
