dc.description.abstract | Housing has always been a major issue of policy development in Singapore. In the 60's, the aim of the government was to provide this basic necessity for her people. With the increased standard in living and changing affluence, Singaporeans now aspire for better quality housing. The new task for the government is to fulfill the desire of her people. Thus the Executive Condominium Scheme was introduced. This research was carried out to assess the policies and issues of the scheme and determine its success. A critique was done by the author to assess the policies and issues of the Executive Condominium Scheme. A survey was also conducted to look into the opinions of the real estate professionals and general public. Finally, a chi-square test was carried out to test for the dependency of the respondents' opinions on their occupation. Findings indicated that the opinions of the respondents on the policies and issues of the Executive Condominium scheme are dependent on whether they are professionals in the real estate industry or just the general public. Recommendations to fine-tune the scheme was also made. Some of these recommendations concern the allocation procedures, pricing and financing assistance of the scheme. | |
