| dc.description.abstract | This AE examines the middle class theory of democratization as articulated by modernization theory. Through a discussion of the discursive genealogy of the middle class, it shows that modernization theory as a paradigm is filled with conceptual ambiguities and therefore unable to provide an accurate explanation of middle class's role in democratization and politics in general. | |
