dc.description.abstractThe use of media to evoke emotions from the human audience/users gives birth to the term Empathetic Media and Living Media as Empathetic Media is presented in this case. The study is presented as an exploration into the space of this domain; iterations resulting in two working prototypes are presented. This approach is what Fallman refers to as design oriented research. Our first iteration, Metazoa Ludens, was built to provide a general understanding of Living Media. The second iteration, dDNA, investigated into the effectiveness of Empathetic Media. Experimental studies were conducted using Csikszentmihalyi's Flow theory for Metazoa Ludens while a pilot user testing was conducted for dDNA. Results show that overall the human users feels more for the Living Media. In addition the results were used to generalize design frameworks which may provide basis for future work to create an even broader use of Living Media.
